Rachel Alexandra is remarkable, and her year was incredible and she deserves horse of the year.
please check out my woodward post at http://afleetalexforever.blogspot.com/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3549541742555961000.post-78884851353953169682009-11-21T14:41:24.436-05:002009-11-21T14:41:24.436-05:00I love them both, but am closer to Zenyatta becaus...I love them both, but am closer to Zenyatta because we have known her for much longer. Zenyatta is like family, Rachel is like some fabulous, lofty movie star to me (this is no way hints anything about the Jackson's presentation of her by the way)

"Machine like". My personal translation of this is that Zenyatta is so good that, like a smooth running machine, she was all but guaranteed to work every time. Especially remarkable for a closer, who is more apt to encounter trouble in a race. I lost a lot of the excitement over Zenyatta's races this year, the result always seemed inevitable. Except the Classic. After the Classic? I have a hard time seeing her bested at that distance again. Both mares have been compared to Secretariat, I see Zenyatta fitting his "tremendous machine" label more of the two.

Rachel, my choice also for Horse Of The Year, is the brilliant Secretariat. Because of her races, and the more challenging campaign against the colts overall, there was always an element of "can she do it again" for me. I posted on your "One More Year" blog my thoughts about how the dream race might go down for these two in Dubai.

I love them both. If I had to pick between the two of them for my private racing stable, to continue racing, I would go with Zenyatta. For breeding I would go with Rachel- more of the norm and maybe easier to match with stallions (opinion)

INTENTIONAL HUMOR- I repeat, I love them both. This post was in no way intended to degrade, hurt feelings, lash out or lower fan self esteem in any way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3549541742555961000.post-20942133880364438102009-11-21T12:44:37.794-05:002009-11-21T12:44:37.794-05:00Very nice Dani, I think both horses bring that kin...Very nice Dani, I think both horses bring that kind of emotion to millions of fans. I am with you, in that I have a much greater attachment to Rachel Alexandra than I do to Zenyatta. Either way your emotions lie, 2009 was an incredible year that brought out the very best racing has to offer.Brian Zipsehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08592017304873334271noreply@blogger.com
